Thailand has introduced a new long-term visa for Indian travelers called the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). This special visa is aimed at people who want to live and work remotely while enjoying life in Thailand.

The move is expected to attract digital nomads, freelancers, remote employees, and entrepreneurs from India who are looking for a flexible “work from anywhere” lifestyle.

What is the Destination Thailand Visa?

The new DTV is a 5-year visa that allows travelers to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days in one visit.

If needed, visitors can also extend their stay by another 180 days. This means eligible travelers may be able to spend a much longer time in Thailand without repeatedly applying for short-term visas.

The visa is part of Thailand’s effort to attract international remote workers and long-stay visitors.

Who Can Apply for This Visa?

Thailand has designed this visa for several categories of people, including:

Digital nomads

Freelancers

Remote workers

Entrepreneurs managing overseas businesses

Students taking long-term courses

The visa is also open to people joining special cultural or wellness programs in Thailand. This includes:

Muay Thai training

Thai cooking classes

Wellness and health programs

Cultural learning activities

Financial Requirement for Applicants

To apply for the DTV visa, applicants must show proof of financial stability.

Individuals are required to demonstrate funds of at least 500,000 Thai Baht, which is roughly around ₹14-15 lakh.

Applicants may need to provide documents such as:

Bank statements

Salary slips

Savings certificates

Fixed deposit documents

However, assets like cryptocurrency holdings, stock portfolios, or unused credit card limits are generally not accepted as proof of funds.

Documents Needed for the Visa

Applicants will need several important documents while applying for the visa. These include:

Valid passport

Two passport-size photographs

Recent bank statement

Proof of remote work or freelancing

Address details in Thailand

Health insurance documents

Those attending programs like Muay Thai camps, cooking schools, or wellness courses must also provide an official confirmation letter from the organization.
