New OTP System for Gas Cylinder Delivery Across India

A big change has been introduced in the delivery of LPG gas cylinders across the country. Now, customers must provide an OTP (one-time password) to receive their gas cylinder.

This system is already active in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Jaipur. In these places, delivery is not completed without OTP verification.

Why the OTP Rule Has Been Introduced

The OTP system has been introduced to solve common delivery problems. Earlier, there were many complaints where deliveries were marked as completed even when the cylinder was not delivered, or it was delivered to the wrong person.

Some users also booked multiple cylinders and stored them, causing shortages for others. To stop such issues, the process is now being digitized, and OTP verification is an important step in making deliveries more secure and transparent.

How the OTP System Works

The OTP system ensures that gas cylinders reach the correct customer. When you book a cylinder, an OTP is sent to your registered mobile number at the time of delivery.

The delivery person will ask for this OTP and enter it into their device to confirm delivery. In many areas, the delivery is not considered complete until the OTP is verified.

This system is also called the “Delivery Authentication Code” and helps prevent fake or incorrect deliveries.

New LPG Booking Rules: Time Gap

Along with the OTP system, new booking rules have also been introduced. Customers in cities must wait at least 25 days before booking the next cylinder.

In rural areas, the waiting period is 45 days. This rule is meant to stop unnecessary stockpiling and ensure fair distribution so that everyone can get gas on time.

What Users Need to Do

If the OTP system is active in your area, keep your mobile phone with you at the time of delivery. You must share the OTP with the delivery person to complete the process.

Also, remember the new waiting period rules while booking your next cylinder to avoid rejection.

Important Things to Remember

Only share the OTP at the time of delivery and never with anyone else. If someone tries to mark a delivery without asking for the OTP, report it to your gas agency immediately.

Always check the cylinder seal and look for any leaks when receiving it to ensure your safety.
