Hyundai Motor India’s Verna is a premium sedan and one of the most popular cars in its segment.
With the implementation of the new GST 2.0, the tax on the car has been reduced, bringing down its overall price. This GST change has also impacted cars sold through Army canteens.
At the Canteen Stores Department (CSD), soldiers are charged only 14% GST instead of 18%.
According to Cars24, the Hyundai Verna now starts at ₹8.76 lakh at CSD, compared to its ₹10.70 lakh ex-showroom price. This means buyers save ₹1.94 lakh, and depending on the variant, total tax savings can go up to ₹2.59 lakh.
What Is the Canteen Stores Department (CSD)?
Before looking at Verna’s prices at CSD, it’s important to understand what CSD is.
The Canteen Stores Department is a government-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Defence. It is operated by the Indian Armed Forces.
CSD has 34 depots across India, located in cities such as Ahmedabad, Bagdogra, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Mumbai. It sells items like food products, medicines, household goods, and even cars at lower prices.
