After Pahalgam Attack, 48 of 87 Tourist Spots Shut in Kashmir (Full List)

Impact of Pahalgam Terror Attack: Following the shocking terrorist attack at the Baisaran grasslands in Pahalgam, the Jammu and Kashmir government has taken a major step by temporarily closing 48 out of the 87 tourist spots in the valley.

This attack claimed the lives of 25 people, including a Nepali citizen and a local resident. The incident has deeply affected the nation and is being seen as a communal act of violence.

Tourist Spots That Are Now Closed:

As per the government statement, the places that have been shut include: Yusmarg, Tausmaidan, Doodpathri, Aharbal, Kausarnag, Bangus, Kariwan Diver Chandigam, Bangus Valley, Wular/Watlab, Rampora and Rajpora, Cherhar, Mundiz-Hamam-Markut Waterfall, Khampu, Bosni, Vijitop, Sun Temple, Verinag Garden, Sinthan Top, Marganotop, Akad Park, Habba Khatoon Point, Babareshi, Ringawali, Gogaldara, Baderkote, Shrunj Waterfall, Kamanpost, Nambalan Waterfall, Eco Park Khadniyar, Sangarwani, Jamia Masjid, Badamwari, Rajouri Kadal, Aali Kadal, Padshapal Resorts, Fakir Gujri, Dara, Astanmarg View Point, Astanmarg Paragliding, Mamneth and Mahadev Hills, Buddhist Monastery, Dachigam – Trout Farm/Fishing Farm, Astanpora, especially Qayam Gah Resort, Laachpatri, Hung Park, and Naranag.

Some of these tourist destinations have been shut temporarily and may reopen after assessing the security situation.

Tourism Takes a Hit:

Tourism in the valley has suffered a significant blow. A sharp decline in the number of tourists arriving at Srinagar airport has been observed.

According to the local administration, security at the remaining open tourist spots has been tightened to ensure the safety of visitors.

Homes of 10 Terrorists Demolished:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the attack, stating that the terrorists, along with their supporters and masterminds, will not be spared.

He said they will face consequences beyond imagination. Security forces have acted swiftly and demolished the houses of 10 active terrorists, including Adil Hussain Thokar and Asif Sheikh, who are believed to be involved in the attack.

On Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly unanimously passed a resolution denouncing the attack.

The resolution called the incident “cruel, inhuman, and cowardly,” and described it as a direct assault on Kashmiriyat, the essence of the Constitution, and national unity.
