If you are from Tamil Nadu and often have to wait in long queues to buy liquor, this update could make the process much easier.
The Tamil Nadu government has introduced a new digital service to make liquor sales faster and more convenient.
On August 6, the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited (TASMAC) launched a new mobile app.
Through this app, customers can check liquor brands, view their prices, and place orders online directly from their smartphones.
App to Be Available at Over 4,000 TASMAC Shops
TASMAC’s new digital liquor system will be available at around 4,038 retail shops across Tamil Nadu.
Using the app, customers can:
Find nearby TASMAC liquor shops.
Check which liquor brands are available at each outlet.
View the price of every available brand before making a purchase.
Why Did TASMAC Launch This App?
The app has been introduced after some TASMAC employees were accused of charging customers more than the actual price of liquor. After these complaints came to light, the corporation took strict action against the employees.
The new digital system is expected to reduce such complaints by allowing customers to see the official prices before buying.
How Will the New Liquor Booking System Work?
Customers can use the TASMAC mobile app to browse available liquor brands and their prices. After selecting their preferred product, they can place an order and complete the payment online.
Once the payment is successful, the app will generate a QR code. Customers can show this QR code at the selected TASMAC retail shop and collect their liquor without waiting in long queues.
Benefits for Customers
The new system offers several advantages:
Customers can see the actual price of each liquor brand before purchasing.
It reduces the chances of being charged more than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
Digital payments will make the buying process faster.
Customers can avoid standing in long queues at liquor shops.
Similar Services Already Available in Other States
Tamil Nadu is not the first state to introduce online liquor booking.
In West Bengal, customers can order liquor online through the eRetail portal.
In Odisha, licensed shops and authorised platforms already offer home delivery of liquor.
