Akasa Air has entered the airline loyalty programme market with the launch of Akasa Elevate, its first rewards programme.

The airline launched the programme on August 7, marking its fourth anniversary.

Under Akasa Elevate, passengers can earn and redeem reward points when they book flights and use eligible additional services.

Members will also get different benefits based on their loyalty tier, including priority services, faster upgrades and more flexibility while travelling.

What Makes Akasa Elevate Different?

Akasa Air is offering some features that could make its loyalty programme stand out from traditional airline reward schemes.

One major benefit is that members can continue to receive their elite-tier benefits even when they book tickets through travel agents or online travel websites.

They do not necessarily have to book directly through the Akasa Air website or app to enjoy these benefits.

Another useful feature is the option to claim points for past flights.

Members can claim reward points for eligible flights taken from April 1, 2026, even though Akasa Elevate officially launched on August 7.

This gives existing Akasa passengers a chance to start their rewards journey with points from earlier trips.

Eligible Members Can Change Flights on the Same Day

Akasa Elevate also offers a potentially valuable benefit for frequent travellers.

Eligible members can make same-day flight changes without paying a change fee.

For example, if a passenger reaches the airport earlier than expected, they may be able to move to an earlier Akasa flight departing within 12 hours.

The change will depend on seat availability.

This type of flexibility can be particularly useful for business and frequent travellers who often have changing schedules.

However, Akasa says the programme has been designed for all types of passengers, rather than only corporate travellers.

Akasa Air Continues to Expand

The launch of Akasa Elevate comes as the airline continues to grow its operations.

Akasa Air started flying in August 2022 and has expanded its network significantly since then.

The airline currently operates 40 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

It serves 29 domestic and 7 international destinations and has carried nearly 30 million passengers so far.

Akasa also has a large future expansion plan, with an order book of 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

Why Airline Loyalty Programmes Matter

Airlines are increasingly using loyalty programmes to encourage passengers to fly with them more often.

Instead of competing only on ticket prices, airlines can use reward points, priority services and travel flexibility to attract frequent travellers.

Akasa Elevate is Akasa Air’s latest step in this direction.

With benefits such as reward points, elite-tier privileges, retrospective point claims and fee-free same-day changes for eligible members, the programme could help the airline build stronger relationships with regular passengers.
