Zomato, the popular food delivery platform, has launched its new ‘District’ app for both iOS and Android users.
The app allows customers to book various services from home, including movie tickets, sports tickets, event bookings, and restaurant table reservations.
With this new feature, Zomato expands beyond food delivery, offering entertainment options as well.
The app is now available for download on both iPhone and Android devices, making it easy for users to install and enjoy these new services.
Zomato now has three apps in total. The company previously launched the Blinkit app for quick commerce, and the District app is its third offering.
This new app marks Zomato’s entry into its third consumer-facing business.
Benefits of the District App
Through the District app, users can easily book tickets for movies and live events, as well as reserve tables at restaurants.
The app supports movie ticket bookings for platforms like PVR-Inox and Cinepolis, and also allows users to book tickets for concerts, plays, and other live events.
Additionally, users can take advantage of Zomato’s restaurant network to book tables at their favorite dining spots.
This launch marks Zomato’s strategic entry into the ‘going-out’ segment.
Zomato aims to boost its revenue by tapping into the growing entertainment industry.
CEO Deepinder Goyal mentioned that Zomato and Blinkit are their two main consumer-facing businesses, both offering home services.
However, the company also has a significant presence in the “going-out” sector in India.
Zomato acquired Paytm’s entertainment and ticketing business in August for Rs 2,048 crore.
Following this, the company introduced the District App, which allows users to book movie tickets, dining reservations, and event tickets.
