YouTube is making a big change to improve the online safety of children and teenagers. Soon, the platform will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect a user’s real age.
If someone enters a fake age while creating an account, this new system will help guess their actual age. According to a report, this feature will first launch in the U.S. on August 13, 2025, and later be rolled out to other countries.

Countries like the United States, United Kingdom, and those in the European Union have already set rules that require platforms to verify users’ ages and protect minors from harmful or adult content.
How YouTube’s AI Will Work
YouTube’s AI system will study the kind of videos a person watches, what they search for, and their activity on the platform to figure out their true age.
If the system finds that a user is under 18, YouTube may apply restrictions on that account. This includes blocking access to adult or inappropriate content to create a safer space for young users.
Reminders and Notifications for Teens
For users under 18, YouTube will also send reminders like “Take a Break” to stop them from watching for too long.
It will reduce the number of sensitive topics such as body image and show privacy alerts when users try to post photos or comments. These steps aim to make the platform healthier and safer for young people.
