YouTube has added features like background play and offline downloads to its cheaper Premium Lite subscription. This change has started from today.
The company said this update was made after user feedback and to make the lower-priced plan more useful. Because of this, Premium Lite users can now also enjoy background play and offline downloads.
What Do Users Get in the Premium Lite Plan?
According to YouTube, background play is now being enabled for Premium Lite subscribers. This means users can continue playing videos even when the screen is locked or the app is minimized.
Offline downloads are also being added. Users can download videos and watch them later without an internet connection.
Most videos in this plan are ad-free. However, for YouTube Music Premium, users will still need the full Premium subscription.
The update has started rolling out today and will reach all users in the next few days.

With background play, users do not need to keep the YouTube app open while listening to long podcasts, interviews, or discussions.
Offline downloads will help people in remote areas where internet connectivity is weak. They can download videos once and watch them later without a network.
Price of YouTube Premium and Premium Lite in India
In India, YouTube Premium starts at ₹149 per month.
The Premium Lite plan costs ₹89 per month.
If you choose the Family Premium plan, it costs ₹299 per month, and you can add up to 5 members.
