Spain has introduced a Digital Nomad Visa, giving high-earning Indian professionals a legal way to live and work in Europe for several years.
Unlike short-term tourist visas, this permit offers stability, with validity for up to five years.
The visa is meant for people who earn their income online while working for Indian companies, international clients, or their own remote businesses.
This means you can live in Spain and continue your work without switching employers or leaving Europe.
Who Can Apply and What You Need
The eligibility requirements are strict:
Income: Single applicants must earn over Rs 30 lakh per year, and couples must earn over Rs 40 lakh combined.
Experience: Applicants need at least three years of professional work experience and must have worked remotely for at least three months before applying.
Work Restrictions: You cannot take a local job in Spain.
All income must come from outside the country.
Required documents include proof of income (employment letters or contracts), bank statements, proof of residence, a police clearance certificate from India, international health insurance, and proof of qualifications or experience.
The application fee is around Rs 8,000, but overall costs, including translations and insurance, may rise to about Rs 1 lakh.
Processing usually takes around 30 days.
The visa also allows you to bring your spouse and children under dependent permits.
Why This Matters
This visa is part of Spain’s push to attract global remote talent.
For Indian professionals, it opens the door to long-term life in Europe while continuing your career remotely.
It’s an ideal option for consultants, freelancers, tech specialists, start-up founders, and others whose work can be done online.
Spain is now inviting Indian remote workers to swap short stays for a life anchored under European skies.
