WhatsApp is continuously adding new features. Recently, the company launched an AI-powered background option for camera and video calls.
Now, a new feature is being discussed — the ability to share Live Photos in their original format.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, this feature is available in WhatsApp Beta for iOS 25.24.10.72.
How the Live Photo Feature Works
WABetaInfo has also shared a screenshot of this feature. Currently, it is available for some beta testers. With this feature, users can send photos with motion and audio.
A Live Photo combines a still picture with short video clips taken before and after the shutter is pressed.
This means your photo will not just be a still memory, but a dynamic memory with movement and sound.
In the new update, whenever iOS users share a Live Photo, the receiver will see it exactly as intended.
To show that an image has motion, a Live Photo icon will appear above the thumbnail.
The receiver can press a button to play the movement and audio. Even if saved in the gallery, the motion remains intact on iOS devices.
Cross-Platform Compatibility
The special thing about this feature is that it works across platforms. For example, if an iOS user sends a Live Photo, an Android user can also view it with motion.
Similarly, iOS users will be able to see Live Photos shared from Android devices.
Users will also have full control — they can choose to send the photo as a Live Photo or as a regular still image.
Currently, this feature is in the beta testing phase, but the stable version is expected to roll out soon.
