Like Disney+ Hotstar and Netflix, WhatsApp may soon introduce a paid subscription plan. According to reports, the company is working on a new plan that will offer an ad-free experience.

This means that if you do not want to see ads in WhatsApp statuses and channels, you may need to pay for a subscription.

At the moment, not much information about this plan has been revealed. However, it is believed that the main focus of the plan will be to remove ads. WhatsApp introduced ads on its platform last year.

No Official Details About Pricing or Features

So far, WhatsApp has not officially announced the price, features, or launch date of this subscription plan. Reports suggest that the plan will mainly remove ads and may not offer any extra premium features.

It is also unclear when and where this plan will be available. Earlier, Meta introduced ad-free subscription options on Facebook and Instagram in some regions. However, these plans were stopped after pressure from the European Union.

Global Availability Still Uncertain

It is not yet known whether WhatsApp will launch this subscription plan worldwide or only in selected countries. Meta started showing ads in WhatsApp statuses and channels last year, which caused strong reactions from users.

Many users were unhappy because WhatsApp was previously completely ad-free. Despite the protests, Meta did not reverse its decision.

Now, the company is reportedly working on a new subscription plan. This information comes from new strings found in the WhatsApp app code of version 2.26.3.9, which suggests that WhatsApp may soon introduce a paid option for an ad-free experience.
