WhatsApp Launches Its Biggest Privacy Campaign: Not Even WhatsApp

WhatsApp has started its largest-ever global privacy campaign called “Not Even WhatsApp.”

The campaign highlights that no one—not even WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta—can read or listen to users’ messages.

This campaign is aimed at promoting stronger privacy for WhatsApp’s more than 3 billion users worldwide.

The campaign kicks off with a brand manifesto TV ad directed by Achove from Chalk & Cheese Films.

It was filmed in several places across Delhi, including the Yamuna riverbank and Chandni Chowk.

The 60-second ad features some well-known Indian celebrities, including Aamir Khan, and is available in both Hindi and English.

WhatsApp is promoting the “Not Even WhatsApp” campaign across various platforms—TV, online video, digital ads, outdoor advertising, audio, and in-app messages.

The campaign is being run in countries like India, the US, the UK, Brazil, and Mexico. In India, it will be seen in 16 states, including Delhi, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

This campaign follows the launch of Advanced Chat Privacy, a new feature for one-on-one and group chats. It stops chat content from being shared outside WhatsApp.

It also builds on tools like Privacy Checkup, which helps users review and update their privacy settings easily in one place.

What Is the Meaning of a Privacy Campaign?

The ad shows a unique view from the other side of the phone screen, making it clear that not even WhatsApp has access to private messages.

The campaign reminds users that their everyday chats—whether it’s a voice message to a loved one, a selfie, or a personal conversation—are completely private.

Thanks to WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption, only the sender and the receiver can read messages or hear calls.

No one else—not even WhatsApp—can see, hear, or share the content of these conversations.
