WhatsApp is planning to introduce a paid subscription model. A notification about this new feature has started appearing inside the app. The update was first shared by WaBetaInfo, a website that tracks upcoming WhatsApp features.
The paid subscription will be optional. This means users can choose whether they want to subscribe or not.
The messaging app has now started sending notifications to inform users about the availability of this paid subscription. Users who subscribe to the premium plan will get access to new and special features.
According to WaBetaInfo, a feature called “Nazar” has been spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android (2.26.9.6) available on the Play Store. Users will also have the option to join a waitlist for the new subscription plan.
Reports have also shared screenshots of this upcoming feature, showing how the update will look. These screenshots confirm that premium users will receive access to the new features.
Features Available Under Premium Subscription
Users who choose the premium subscription plan will get:
Exclusive stickers
An extra chat pin option
The ability to schedule messages
These features will only be available to paid subscribers.
Purpose of the Waitlist
Users who are currently part of the WhatsApp Plus initial phase can sign up for the waitlist. However, joining the waitlist does not guarantee that they will automatically get the WhatsApp Plus subscription when it officially launches.
The main purpose of this feature is to inform users whether their account is eligible for the upcoming plan. Even after the plan becomes available, users will still need to complete a separate subscription process to activate it.
