Popular messaging platform WhatsApp has announced several new features to make group chats more engaging and easier to manage.
These updates focus on clearly identifying members, making conversations fun, and managing events efficiently. According to the company, these features will work across different platforms and devices.
Member Tags
WhatsApp now offers a ‘Member Tags’ feature. This allows users to assign a custom tag for each group, showing their role or identity.
The tag can be different in every group. For example, someone could appear as ‘Anna’s Dad’ in one group and ‘Goalkeeper’ in another.
These tags are visible to all group members, making it easier to understand each person’s role during conversations.
Text Stickers
Users can now turn any typed word into a sticker using the Sticker Search feature.
These text stickers can be saved directly into a sticker pack without sending them to a chat. This makes it simpler to create, save, and reuse custom text stickers.
Event Reminders
When creating events in group chats, users can now set custom early reminders.
These notifications alert group members ahead of time, helping them remember meetings, calls, or offline gatherings. This feature is especially useful for people with busy schedules.
WhatsApp is gradually rolling out these new group chat features, so more users will get access to them over time.
