messaging app has updated its camera interface with a Night Mode feature.
This update is currently available for Android users under beta version 2.25.22.2, and it will be rolled out to all users soon.
What Does Night Mode Do?
As per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s new Night Mode aims to improve photo quality in low-light conditions.
With this feature, users can now click clear and bright photos even in dark settings—directly through WhatsApp’s camera.
This removes the need to rely on third-party camera apps for better night shots.
The Night Mode will be shown as a moon icon in the camera interface. It becomes active only when you’re trying to take a photo in a dark environment.
Simply tap the icon to turn on Night Mode, and the photo taken will have more detail and clarity.
It’s Not Just a Filter—It’s a Smart Upgrade
Unlike regular filters or effects, Night Mode is a software-based enhancement. It works by balancing exposure, reducing noise, and improving brightness—making photos look more professional and clearer.
This feature will be especially helpful for users who post WhatsApp status updates at night or take indoor photos in low light.
Manual Control for Better Flexibility
Currently, Night Mode is not automatic. Users need to manually tap the moon icon to activate it.
This gives full control to the user—they can choose when to use Night Mode or stick to normal photos if preferred.
More Improvements Coming Soon
WhatsApp had earlier introduced filters and effects in its camera, but this Night Mode takes things a step further in improving camera quality.
The feature will be available to more users in the coming weeks as the update is rolled out widely.
