WhatsApp is introducing a new feature called Double Tap Reaction, designed to make chatting more enjoyable.
This update, reported by WABetaInfo, will allow users to react to photos, videos, and GIFs by simply double tapping on them.
React Directly from Media Viewer Screen
WABetaInfo has shared a video showcasing this new feature. With Double Tap Reaction, you can now react to media directly from the media viewer screen.
This enhancement is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to improve the chatting experience by adding faster shortcuts.
Default Heart Emoji and Future Updates
By default, double tapping will show a heart emoji reaction. To use a different emoji, you will need to open the reaction tray.
Currently, there is no option to disable this default feature, which may be bothersome for some users who accidentally react with the heart emoji.
It is expected that WhatsApp will introduce an option to turn off this feature in the future.
This new feature is available in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.24.16.7 on the Google Play Store.
Beta users can explore the feature by updating to this latest version, and a stable release will be rolled out to all users after the beta testing phase.
