North India is likely to see a change in weather very soon. Despite the current bright sunshine and heat, heavy rain is expected in the next few hours.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several northern states, including Delhi, may experience rain and thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday.
These weather conditions may lead to a drop in maximum temperatures. Rain is likely to continue in many northern states for the next three days.
From April 10 to 12, the IMD has forecasted rain with thunderstorms and strong winds in states across North India. Delhi and nearby areas may get relief from the ongoing heatwave.
A drop of around 3°C in the maximum temperature is expected on Friday and Saturday, and the minimum temperature may go down to about 20°C.
Impact of Rain in Different States
Uttar Pradesh (UP)
Rain has caused serious damage in UP. Unseasonal heavy rain, hailstorms, storms, and lightning on Thursday led to the death of five people in different parts of the state.
The IMD’s Lucknow office warned of more rain and lightning in several areas.
A heavy rain alert has been issued for eight districts: Kaushambi, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Lucknow, Barabanki, and Rae Bareli.
Rajasthan
A new western disturbance is likely to bring strong storms and rain to parts of Rajasthan. The IMD has issued a weather alert for this.
On April 11 and 12, wind speeds of 40–50 km/h and light to moderate rain are expected in areas like Bikaner, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur, and Bharatpur. A temperature drop of 2–3°C is also likely.
Bihar
Heavy rain is falling across many districts of Bihar. The Patna Meteorological Center has predicted rain in all districts, with wind speeds reaching 50–60 km/h. A rain alert is in effect until April 11.
Jharkhand
The IMD has issued a warning for hailstorms, lightning, and strong winds in several parts of Jharkhand.
Light to moderate rain is expected in many areas, with heavy rainfall possible in some places. Winds may blow at 50 km/h in eastern Jharkhand,
and strong winds with thunder and lightning are expected in western and central parts. An orange alert has been issued for three areas.
