Vodafone Idea (Vi): Vodafone Idea, the country’s third-largest telecom company, may soon surprise its customers with higher 5G plan prices.
So far, companies like Jio and Airtel offer 5G services only with plans starting at Rs 299, which include 2GB of data per day. Vi is now following the same path.
At present, Vi’s 5G service is available in select cities and areas, but the company says it will expand 5G to all major regions by August 2025.
Will Plans Above Rs 299 Become Pricier?
Vi’s management has said that the rollout of 5G has helped ease traffic on its 4G network, improving speed for users.
Currently, only users who recharge with Rs 299 or more can access Vi’s 5G service.
These plans offer unlimited data, with a 300GB high-speed limit per month. However, as coverage grows, Vi is expected to increase the cost of these plans.
What’s Coming Next?
Vi aims to cover 90% of India’s 4G users soon. To do this, the company needs more funding.
Its capital expenditure (capex) is currently high, and to keep things running, it may need bank loans.
According to its Q4 FY25 results, Vi has significantly reduced its bank debt, which is a good sign for the company’s finances.
