The merger between Air India and Vistara is officially moving forward, with the government approving foreign direct investment (FDI) from Singapore Airlines as part of the process.
Air India CEO Campbell Wilson announced that they are in the final stages of this complex merger.
Vistara will operate its last flight under its own brand on November 11, 2024, after which Air India will take over all operations starting from November 12, 2024.
Booking Closure for Vistara Flights from November 12, 2024
According to a press release by Vistara, from September 3, 2024, customers will no longer be able to book Vistara flights for travel on or after November 12, 2024.
After this date, Vistara’s aircraft will be operated by Air India, and all bookings for these routes will be redirected to the Air India website.
Vistara will continue accepting bookings and operating flights normally until November 11, 2024.
Air India to Hold a 25.1% Stake Post-Merger
Campbell Wilson stated that after regulatory approval, Vistara’s aircraft and crew would be integrated into Air India starting November 12, 2024.
The merger was initially proposed in November 2022, and post-merger, Singapore Airlines will hold a 25.1% stake in Air India.
Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan highlighted that this merger aims to provide passengers with more options, including a larger fleet and a more extensive network, enhancing the overall travel experience.
Indigo to Resume Services from Terminal 1 of Delhi Airport
In related news, Indigo Airlines has announced that it will resume services from Terminal 1 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport starting September 2, 2024.
Domestic flights numbered 2000-2999 will operate from Terminal 2, while those numbered 5000-5999 will operate from Terminal 3.
All other flights will operate from Terminal 1, with Indigo scheduled to operate 35 flights daily from this terminal starting on the effective date.
