Vi Reduces Validity of ₹189 and ₹98 Recharge Plans

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has made changes to two of its prepaid recharge plans, and users may not find these updates favorable.

The company has reduced the validity period of its ₹189 and ₹98 recharge plans, although the basic benefits remain the same.

These plans were popular among customers who needed short-term service.

₹189 Plan – Validity and Data Reduced

The ₹189 unlimited recharge plan earlier offered 28 days of validity and 2GB of data.

However, the company has now reduced the validity to 26 days and the data benefit to 1GB.

Other benefits of this plan include:

Unlimited calling

300 free SMS

1GB mobile data (earlier 2GB)

The official Vi website and Paytm now reflect this reduced validity, while PhonePe still shows the older 28-day validity.

Since the official website confirms the change, the validity is indeed reduced.

₹98 Plan Also Changed

According to TelecomTalk, the ₹98 plan has also seen a cut in validity.

Previously, it lasted 14 days, but now it is valid for only 10 days.

Benefits of the plan include:

200MB of mobile data

Unlimited calling

This means users will now have to recharge more frequently.

Alternative Affordable Plans

Vi still offers other pocket-friendly options:

₹218 plan – 1-month validity, 4GB data, and free SMS.

₹95 plan – 14-day validity, 4GB data, plus free SonyLIV Mobile subscription.

These may be better options for many users compared to the reduced-validity packs.

Plans Missing on Some Platforms

Interestingly, the ₹98 plan is not listed on Paytm or in Vi’s data plan section online.

This suggests it was originally meant for select users but is now being phased out.

With the reduced validity, customers using the ₹98 pack will need to recharge three times a month, spending ₹296 monthly instead of just once earlier.
