Updated Schengen Visa Guidelines for Switzerland – What Has Changed in 2025?

What’s Changed?

VFS Global has issued a new guideline: only the documents listed in the official checklist will be accepted.

Any extra documents, explanations, or additional materials will not be considered during the visa process.

Official Statement

As per the official notice:
“All applicants are informed that only the documents listed in the official checklist for that visa category will be accepted at the Visa Application Center (VAC).”

This means if you’re applying for a tourist Schengen visa, you must submit only the required documents as per VFS Global’s 2025 checklist.

Documents Required for Switzerland Schengen Visa:

Valid Passport

Issued within the last 10 years

Must be valid for at least 3 months after your return

Should have at least 2 blank pages

Recent Passport Size Photo

White background, taken within the last 6 months

Paste it on the form (do not staple or pin)

Visa Application Form

Must be filled and signed

For minors, legal guardians must sign

Employment ID Letter

Printed on company letterhead

Must include your position, travel dates, purpose of visit, and a no-objection statement

Signed and stamped by HR

Travel Insurance

Minimum coverage of €30,000 (₹30,36,660)

Must be valid in all Schengen countries

Should cover emergency medical expenses during the entire trip

Travel Documents

Confirmed return flight tickets with passenger names

Travel plans within Schengen, hotel bookings, tour confirmations or receipts

Family Applications

All documents can be submitted together

Only the head of the family needs to provide financial proof, insurance, and bookings for all

For Students (16+)

Student ID and school/university ID are required

For Minors (Below 18)

If not traveling with both parents, notarized consent from the non-traveling parent is required

If traveling alone, consent from both parents and copies of their IDs must be submitted

Financial Documents

All financial papers must be A4 size with bank stamp and signature

Salaried applicants: last 3 months’ salary slips, 3 months’ bank statement, and last 2 years’ ITR-V

Business owners: business registration, 3 months’ bank statement, and ITR-V

Retired individuals: 3 months’ pension statements and other income proof like rent receipts.
