Update Aadhaar Details in One Click with UIDAI’s New App (See How)

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is introducing a new mobile app called ‘e-Aadhaar’ to make Aadhaar-related services easier.

With this app, citizens can update important details like their name, address, date of birth, and mobile number directly from their smartphones.

The app is designed to be an all-in-one platform to simplify the usually long and complex process of Aadhaar updates.

Many Aadhaar Updates Can Be Done via the App

UIDAI sources say this app will reduce the need to visit Aadhaar centres for most updates.

Users will be able to make changes remotely through an easy-to-use interface without waiting in queues or filling out paperwork.

However, biometric updates like fingerprints and iris scans will still require a visit to an Aadhaar centre for verification.

Verification Using AI and Government Databases

A key feature of the new app is that it will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Face ID technology for secure remote Aadhaar access.

This digital verification aims to offer both convenience and strong protection against identity fraud.

The app will also automatically fetch supporting documents from government-verified databases.

This means users’ details can be verified through sources like the PAN database, passport office, driving licence registry, PDS ration card system, and MNREGA records.

Additionally, utility bills like electricity bills can be used to verify residential addresses.

Why This App Matters

This initiative is part of UIDAI’s and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (MeitY) larger effort to make Aadhaar services more accessible and streamlined.

Recently, the government also launched the ‘Aadhaar Good Governance Portal’ to speed up Aadhaar verification requests.

For India’s over 130 crore Aadhaar holders, this new mobile app could be a major help, especially for those living in remote areas or far from Aadhaar centres.
