Good news for Aadhaar card holders! The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is about to launch a new mobile app called E-Aadhaar.
With this app, users will be able to update important Aadhaar details like name, address, date of birth, and mobile number right from home. This means people won’t need to visit Aadhaar centers for updates anymore.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar said that out of about 1 lakh Aadhaar update machines, around 2,000 machines have already been linked to this new system. This will make the Aadhaar update process much easier.
Main Features of the E-Aadhaar App:
Update Aadhaar from home
Change name, address, date of birth, and mobile number
QR code-based Aadhaar sharing through the app
Mobile-to-mobile and app-to-app Aadhaar verification
Secure transfer of Aadhaar details
Although there is no official launch date yet, UIDAI may release the app very soon.
E-Governance Portal and New QR Code Feature
A few months back, the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) launched the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal.
The aim is to make Aadhaar services faster, easier, and more transparent. It helps approve Aadhaar verification requests quickly.
Now UIDAI is working on another new feature — QR code-based verification, which will allow users to share Aadhaar securely via mobile or apps.
It can be used for checking into hotels, verifying train tickets, and for identity checks in government services.
What is Aadhaar?
Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique ID number issued by the Government of India. It serves as proof of identity and address.
It stores a person’s name, address, gender, date of birth, and includes biometric data like fingerprints and iris scans.
Any Indian citizen who completes the UIDAI verification can apply for an Aadhaar card.
