The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is all set to launch the full version of the Aadhaar app on 28 January 2026.

According to UIDAI’s official post on X, the new app will unlock additional features that make carrying a physical Aadhaar card unnecessary.

After the launch, users will be able to check-in at hotels and other places using just their mobile phones, simplifying Aadhaar-based verification.

How to Download and Use the Aadhaar App

If you haven’t started using the Aadhaar app yet, it’s easy to get started.

The app is available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The setup process is simple and user-friendly, even for seniors or those with limited digital experience. Users need to:

Enter their Aadhaar number

Verify it via OTP

Complete face scan verification

The app also provides step-by-step pictorial guidance, making it easy to use for everyone.

What’s New in the Full Version

The upcoming full version of the Aadhaar app is expected to include several new features:

Aadhaar verification for others: Currently, the app only allows you to share your own Aadhaar.

The new version may allow verification of Aadhaar QR codes of others.

Editing personal details: Presently, users can update their mobile number and address.

The new app is expected to also allow editing of name and email address, making it possible to manage all Aadhaar details from your phone.

This means that all Aadhaar-related work, including verification at hotels or other places, can now be done digitally without carrying a physical card.

Why the Aadhaar App Matters

The Aadhaar app is designed to digitize Aadhaar, removing the need to carry a photocopy or submit it physically anywhere.

Beyond convenience, the app gives users greater control over their Aadhaar, enabling them to perform multiple tasks from the comfort of their homes.

With the new features in the full version, managing your Aadhaar will become even simpler, faster, and safer.
