If you think a small mistake in your Aadhaar date of birth doesn’t matter, think again.

The UIDAI has made it clear that providing incorrect information, especially the date of birth, can now be treated as a legal offense.

Parents who deliberately enter the wrong date of birth for their children may even face an FIR.

UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar highlighted a case where the Allahabad High Court ordered an FIR against a guardian for providing a false date of birth.

This shows that errors or manipulations in Aadhaar details are no longer taken lightly and can have serious consequences.

Strict Rules for Changing Date of Birth

UIDAI has tightened the rules around date of birth changes.

If someone’s date of birth differs across documents, UIDAI will identify the incorrect one.

Anyone who has already changed their date of birth once must submit an affidavit stating it was a clerical error.

A second change will not be allowed.

Deliberately entering a wrong date of birth for children—for school admission, age-based government schemes, or any other benefit—is now considered a violation of the law.

Aadhaar Issued Only After Field Verification

To prevent fake identities and misuse, Aadhaar is now issued only after field verification by district administrations.

This applies to both adults and minors.

UIDAI emphasizes that Aadhaar is not proof of citizenship, but the information must be accurate and verifiable.

Kerala’s First New Model Aadhaar Seva Kendra

Kerala recently inaugurated its first new model Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Ernakulam.

The center is equipped with modern infrastructure and citizen-focused facilities.

UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar interacted with both staff and visitors, reinforcing UIDAI’s commitment to easy, transparent, and accessible services.

Expansion Plans: 473 Centers by September 2026

UIDAI announced a plan to open 473 Aadhaar Seva Kendras across India by September 2026.

Currently, only 88 centers are operational.

Each district in Kerala will get 13 new centers, making it easier for people, especially adults, to handle Aadhaar-related tasks without traveling far.

These centers will provide a single platform for enrollment, demographic and biometric updates, grievance redressal, and application status checks.

UIDAI is also working with Google to make center locations easy to find on Google Maps, offering better convenience to citizens.

This move ensures both accuracy in Aadhaar data and greater accessibility for the public.
