Uber is launching several new features in Mumbai to improve the travel experience for users.
These include Metro ticket booking through the Uber app, priority access at the airport, parcel delivery, and new ride services designed for specific needs.
While Metro ticketing is already available in Delhi, all these features will soon be introduced in Mumbai.
Uber Partners with ONDC to Bring Metro Tickets to the Uber App
A key feature is the ability to book Mumbai Metro tickets directly through the Uber app. This is possible because of Uber’s partnership with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), making Uber one of the first private platforms to offer this service in Mumbai.
This step is part of a bigger plan to improve digital access to public transport in India. The partnership started after an MoU signed in 2024 during Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi’s visit to India, where Uber promised to help grow digital infrastructure through ONDC.
Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO at ONDC, said that Uber’s involvement would improve access to safe and connected digital services.
He believes this will help create a smooth multimodal travel system and support the development of a more unified logistics network across India.
Transforming Urban Travel: New Features from Uber in Mumbai
One major update is Airport Priority Access at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, which will make pick-ups faster and easier from P6 level at the terminal.
Another new feature is Courier XL, a parcel delivery service that allows users to send packages up to 750 kg in Mumbai.
Other services launching soon include:
Uber Pet – lets passengers travel with their pets (dogs or cats) via reserved rides
Price Lock – lets users fix prices on regular routes with a small upfront charge
Wait and Save – offers cheaper fares if users are willing to wait a little longer
Uber for Seniors – a simple version of the app for older users
Uber for Teens – lets parents track their teenager’s ride
Uber XL Plus – offers more space or bigger vehicles for larger groups or extra luggage
These new services are designed to make commuting in Mumbai more accessible, affordable, and convenient for everyone.
Summary:
Uber is introducing new features in Mumbai such as Metro ticket booking through ONDC, airport pick-up improvements, parcel delivery, and specialized ride services like Uber Pet, Uber for Teens, and Uber for Seniors.
These updates aim to enhance travel ease for all kinds of users in the city.
