The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stopped issuing visas to Pakistani citizens, according to Salman Chaudhry from Pakistan’s Interior Ministry.
However, visas are still available for those holding blue passports (official) and diplomatic passports.
Pakistani newspaper DAWN reported that 70-80% of first-time and single-entry visa applications are being rejected. People who already have family living in the UAE are more likely to get a visa.
For example, 28-year-old Nadeem from Lahore wanted to visit Dubai for the first time, but his visa was rejected twice.
Travel agents say this is because people under 40 are being closely scrutinized.
Even with full-time jobs and valid bank statements, many young applicants are being denied visas, causing frustration.
UAE Says There Is No Official Ban
Despite the difficulties, UAE authorities say they have not officially banned visas for Pakistanis. The two countries maintain strong political and economic relations.
However, recent cases involving Pakistanis in crimes or begging in the UAE have made it harder for new applicants.
The UAE’s AI-based system also flags suspicious documents, leading to immediate rejections.
Other Countries With Strict Restrictions on Pakistani Travelers
The Pakistani passport is considered weak, and strict visa policies in several countries make travel difficult. Some countries have either banned Pakistani citizens or imposed severe restrictions:
India – Visa Service Suspended
India has completely suspended all visa services for Pakistanis starting in 2025. Existing visas have been cancelled, and no new tourist, business, or medical visas are being issued.
Israel – Strict Restrictions
Ordinary Pakistani passports cannot enter Israel. Travel is only allowed in special cases with government permission due to lack of diplomatic relations and security concerns.
Libya – Visa Ban
Libya’s ongoing conflict and instability make it nearly impossible for Pakistanis to get a visa. Most applications are rejected.
Sudan – Very Strict Rules
Sudan also imposes strict restrictions. Most Pakistani visa applications are either rejected or not processed due to political issues and document-related doubts.
