Turn Off These 3 Hidden Settings to Extend iPhone Battery (Check How)

Many iPhone users often wonder why their battery drains faster than expected, despite managing brightness or 5G use.The truth is, several hidden settings quietly consume power in the background.

These system and accessibility features may seem helpful but can reduce your battery life over time. Here’s how to fix it and make your iPhone last longer.

1. Turn Off Background App Refresh

One of the main reasons for battery drain is Background App Refresh. This feature allows apps to update their content even when you’re not using them. While convenient, it keeps your phone constantly active in the background.

To disable it, go to Settings → General → Background App Refresh, and select Off. You can also turn it off only for selected apps that don’t need frequent updates.

Once disabled, most users notice a clear improvement in battery performance.

2. Adjust Accessibility Settings

Some Accessibility features also quietly use power. Auto-Brightness, which adjusts screen lighting automatically, keeps sensors running all the time.

Go to Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size, scroll down, and turn Auto-Brightness off. You can still manually change brightness from the Control Centre when needed.

Next, go to Settings → Accessibility → Motion, and turn on Reduce Motion. This limits screen animations and effects, reducing the amount of work your phone’s graphics processor does — saving energy and improving performance.

3. Turn Off Raise to Wake

If your iPhone screen lights up every time you pick it up, that’s Raise to Wake. Though handy, it causes unnecessary power use each time the screen activates.

To disable it, open Settings → Display & Brightness, and switch Raise to Wake off. Now, your screen will stay off until you tap it or press the side button — preventing accidental wake-ups and saving charge.

Small Changes, Big Battery Gains

By turning off these background and motion settings, you can reduce hidden power consumption and keep your iPhone running longer on a single charge.

These simple tweaks don’t just extend battery life — they also help your phone stay cooler, faster, and more efficient throughout the day.
