At the conclusion of the last session of the 13th Legislative Assembly, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced a 3% increase in dearness allowance (DA)
and dearness relief (DR) for all state employees and pensioners.
This increase will take effect from October 1 and will directly benefit more than 1,00,000 employees and 84,000 pensioners.
The Chief Minister said that although the state government had raised DA and DR by 3% in March 2025, there is still a 19% gap compared to central government employees.
Earlier, in January 2025, the central government had announced a 2% DA hike, raising the DA to 55%.
Dr. Saha also reminded that after coming to power in 2018, his government formed a panel to review salaries and pensions and later implemented the Seventh Pay Commission from October 1, 2018.
He added that the latest hike will put an additional burden of ₹25 crore on the state.
He appealed to the people of Tripura to celebrate Durga Puja, Diwali, and other festivals peacefully.
Employees’ Response and Expectations
Many employees and pensioners welcomed the announcement.
They expressed hope that the central government would also announce its DA hike around Diwali, which as per tradition, is usually considered effective from July.
The Chief Minister also noted that since 2018, the state government has released a total of 33% DA and DR in six installments.
With this new hike, employees and pensioners will get an additional 3% increase in their allowance.
