If you are planning to buy a 7-seater family car on a budget, there is good news for you. Toyota has introduced a new and most affordable variant of its popular MPV, the Toyota Rumion.
The new Rumion E MT is priced at ₹9.56 lakh (ex-showroom). With this launch, the MPV is now available for less than ₹10 lakh, making it a more attractive option for families looking for an affordable and spacious car.
Price Reduced by ₹88,000
Earlier, the S MT variant was the most affordable option in the Rumion lineup and was priced at around ₹10.44 lakh. With the launch of the new E MT variant, the starting price has now been reduced by about ₹88,000.
The Toyota Rumion is now available in four variants – E, S, G, and V (top variant).
With its new starting price, the Rumion now competes directly with other popular 7-seater vehicles such as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Nissan Gravite.
Exterior Changes in the Base Variant
To keep the price lower, the company has made a few cost-cutting changes in the new E variant.
For example, door handles are not body-colored, and the side mirrors come in black plastic. The turn indicators are placed on the front fenders instead of the mirrors.
However, the car still maintains a premium look. It continues to offer features like:
A large chrome front grille
Projector halogen headlamps
LED taillights
15-inch steel wheels
Because of these design elements, the base variant still manages to retain a premium SUV-like appearance.
Interior and Seating Layout
Inside the cabin, the new Rumion E variant comes with a dual-tone beige and black theme.
Since it is the base variant, some features are missing, including:
Touchscreen infotainment system
Steering-mounted controls
Driver center armrest
Rear AC vents
Seatback pockets
Even with these omissions, the MPV still offers a flexible seating arrangement.
The second row seats come with a 60:40 split function and also support slide and recline adjustment. The third row gets a 50:50 split configuration.
In terms of luggage capacity, the car offers 209 liters of boot space with all seats up. When the rear seats are folded, the boot space can increase to around 550 liters.
Engine and Mileage
The new Rumion E MT uses the same engine that is available in the other variants of the Toyota Rumion.
It comes with a 1.5-liter petrol engine that produces 103 hp of power and 139 Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with a NeoDrive mild-hybrid system and a 5-speed manual gearbox. According to ARAI estimates, the MPV delivers a fuel efficiency of about 20.51 km/l.
It is also important to note that the CNG option is available only from the S variant onwards.
Safety Features Remain Strong
Even though this is the most affordable variant, Toyota has not reduced the safety features.
The new E variant comes with several important safety features, including:
Six airbags
Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
Rear parking sensors
Hill hold assist
ABS with EBD
A Strong Budget 7-Seater Option
If you are looking for a 7-seater family car under ₹10 lakh, the new Rumion E MT can be a strong option.
Although it is the base variant, it still offers good interior space, a reliable engine, and essential safety features.
Because of this, the Toyota Rumion becomes a strong rival to popular MPVs like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the Indian market. ????
