Toll Tax Hike: New Rates for Highways and Expressways Starting April 1

Starting April 1, 2025, travel on several major highways and expressways across India will become more expensive as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) raises toll tax rates.

The new rates will affect various toll plazas, with some tolls increasing by as little as ₹5 and others by as much as ₹590, depending on the type of vehicle.

Here’s a breakdown of the new toll tax rates:

1. Lucknow-Kanpur-Ayodhya-Raebareli-Barabanki Highways

Light Vehicles: Toll increases by ₹5 to ₹10.

Heavy Vehicles: Increase of ₹20 to ₹25.

This increase will affect commuters traveling on highways passing through Lucknow and surrounding areas.

For light vehicles, the additional cost will be marginal, but for heavy vehicles, the increase can be more significant.

2. Delhi-Meerut Expressway & NH-9 (Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut)

Car/Jeep (One-Way): Toll increased from ₹165 to ₹170.

Light Commercial Vehicle/Bus: Toll increased to ₹275.

Truck: Toll increased to ₹580.

This hike is the second toll increase on these routes in less than a year. The toll hike has been implemented on routes like the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Eastern Peripheral, and NH-9.

3. Chhijarsi Toll Plaza (NH-9)

Car: Toll increased from ₹170 to ₹175.

Light Commercial Vehicle: Toll increased to ₹280.

Bus/Truck: Toll increased to ₹590.

Goods Vehicles (More than 7 Axles): Toll increased by up to ₹590.

The hike at this plaza is significant, especially for commercial vehicles, which will experience a large toll increase.

4. Ghaziabad to Meerut

Car: Toll increased from ₹70 to ₹75.

Commuters traveling between Ghaziabad and Meerut will face a ₹5 increase in toll charges for cars.

5. Delhi-Jaipur Highway (Kherki Daula Toll Plaza)

Cars/Jeep: No change in the toll for small vehicles.

Heavy Vehicles: Increase of ₹5 for each journey.

For vehicles traveling on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, the toll on Kherki Daula Toll Plaza for larger vehicles has gone up by ₹5, making each trip slightly more expensive for trucks and buses.

Additional Information for Kherki Daula Toll Plaza

The 24-hour rule does not apply at the Kherki Daula toll, meaning if you return within 24 hours from your initial journey, you will still have to pay the same toll amount again.

This adds ₹10 more for a round trip.
