Traffic Challan: If you have old traffic challans or a small pending case, today is a day of relief for you.
On Saturday, September 13, the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) and Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority are organizing a National Lok Adalat.
Many cases, including traffic challans, can be easily settled through this.
Where and how will Lok Adalat be held in Delhi?
Lok Adalat will run from 10 am to 4 pm. It won’t be limited to the Delhi High Court only but will also take place in all district courts, debt recovery tribunals, consumer disputes commissions, and permanent Lok Adalats.
Cases here are resolved quickly and by mutual agreement. A special feature is that court fees are refunded, and the decision is immediately enforceable.
What types of challans will be dealt with?
This Lok Adalat mainly focuses on traffic challans. Only compoundable challans or notices up to 31 May 2025 will be included. You can download them from this link: traffic.delhipolice.gov.in/notice/lokadalat.
Every day, 60,000 challans can be downloaded, with a total limit of 1.8 lakh challans. The challan slip itself will mention the court complex, court number, and timing.
How much relief will be provided?
Lok Adalat offers a good discount on challans, usually between 30% and 75%. The exact discount depends on the case and the judge’s decision.
Unlike normal courts, the atmosphere here is cooperative, with officers and lawyers working to settle the case. Once you pay the fixed amount, the challan or case is closed immediately.
Lok Adalat will be held in Maharashtra too
Along with Delhi, Lok Adalat is also being organized today in Mumbai and other cities in Maharashtra.
According to the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, Lok Adalats are scheduled this year on 22 March, 10 May, 13 September, and 13 December.
Why is it special?
The biggest advantage of Lok Adalat is that cases get settled quickly, affordably, and without hassle. This is especially helpful for cases like traffic challans.
If you have old challans pending, today is a golden opportunity to settle them for just half or even one-third of the original amount.
