Thailand has made it more accessible for Indians to visit by temporarily waiving visa fees.
This means you can now travel to Thailand without incurring the usual visa fee, which typically costs around Rs 3,000.
Visa Fee Waived Until May 2024
Thailand has introduced this special offer to attract more tourists. The visa fee waiver is in effect until May 2024.
The decision comes after Thailand eliminated visa requirements for Chinese tourists in September. Now, travelers from India and Taiwan can enjoy visa-free entry into Thailand for up to 30 days.
Booming Tourism in Thailand
Thailand’s tourism sector has been thriving, with 22 million visitors arriving between January and October, contributing a remarkable revenue of 927.5 billion baht (approximately $25.67 billion).
Prime Minister Shretha Thavisin, after a cabinet meeting, announced the visa-free entry for travelers from India and Taiwan from November 10 to May 10 this year, as part of an initiative to promote tourism in the country.
Sri Lanka Also Joins In
Sri Lanka, not wanting to miss out on this trend, approved free visas for tourists from India, China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand as a pilot project.
This offering allows tourists from these countries to obtain a visa for Sri Lanka without any charges.
India has historically been a significant source of tourism in Sri Lanka. This initiative is in place until March 31, 2024.
