Thailand extends Visa-Free Entry for Indian Travelers Indefinitely

Thailand has made your next holiday easier by extending its visa-free entry policy for Indian nationals indefinitely.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) announced this change, which was originally set to end on November 11, 2024. Now, there is no specified end date.

The policy, first introduced in November 2023, allows Indian travelers to enter Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days.

If you wish to stay longer, you can extend your stay for an additional 30 days at an immigration office.

Why this matters for travellers

Thailand has been a popular destination for many Indians due to its beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, and close proximity to India.

Previously, obtaining a Thai visa involved a fee of about INR 3,000, along with documents such as bank statements, proof of foreign exchange, and hotel reservations.

However, with the new visa-free scheme, travelers can avoid this entire process, making Thailand more accessible and affordable than ever.

This has resulted in a significant rise in Indian tourists visiting Thailand. According to reports, from January to mid-October this year, 16.17 million Indian visitors traveled to Thailand.

Experts in the travel industry indicate that the visa-free entry has encouraged spontaneous trips and last-minute vacation plans, making Thailand an ideal short-haul international destination.

The visa-free policy’s effect goes beyond just individual travellers.

Thailand’s beautiful locations and luxury resorts have been popular for destination weddings, and now, with the visa-free entry, there has been a noticeable increase in Indian weddings and large group events held in the country.

Many Indian families, groups of friends, and corporate teams are capitalizing on this easy entry to organize trips for special occasions and vacations.

This trend is likely to keep growing, especially given Thailand’s mix of beach resorts, lively cities, and cultural experiences that attract a wide variety of travellers.

If you’re considering a quick international trip without the hassle of obtaining a visa, Thailand might be the ideal destination this winter.

Thanks to its indefinite visa-free policy, convenient flight options, and a variety of experiences—from the lively streets of Bangkok to the serene islands of Phuket and Koh Samui—Thailand is now more accessible than ever for Indian travellers.

Enjoy a smooth, budget-friendly vacation that Thailand has to offer.
