The entry of American EV giant Tesla into India is now almost confirmed. The company is set to open its first showroom in Mumbai and has rented a 4,000 sq. ft. space in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).
Elon Musk’s company will pay a monthly rent of ₹35 lakh, and the location includes ample parking. This information was revealed in a document by CRE Matrix.
Excitement for Tesla’s Arrival
Tesla’s cars have been eagerly awaited in India, and this move could signal plans to manufacture or assemble vehicles locally.
The company has signed a 5-year lease agreement, and with a 5% annual rent increase, the monthly rent will reach ₹43 lakh.
The showroom is on the ground floor and is near India’s first Apple Store. The lease has been signed with Univco Properties and was officially registered on February 27 in Pune.
Tesla has deposited ₹2.11 crore as security and is paying ₹881 per sq. ft. for the space.
Tesla Hiring for Multiple Positions
Tesla has also started recruiting in India. According to a LinkedIn post, the company has listed 13 job openings, with 5 on-site roles.
The positions are available in both Delhi and Mumbai, but most are for Mumbai.
