The Tamil Nadu government has announced a significant subsidy aimed at empowering women and transgender individuals.
Specifically, the government plans to provide a subsidy of Rs 1 lakh to one thousand women and transgenders for purchasing autorickshaws.
This initiative, disclosed by Labor Welfare Minister CV Ganesan, targets those registered with the Tamil Nadu Drivers and Automobile Workshop Workers Welfare Board.
Minister Ganesan highlighted that the scheme aims to enhance earnings and foster self-reliance among auto drivers from these communities, thereby establishing sustainable livelihoods.
Support for Firecracker Industry
In addition to the auto subsidy, the Tamil Nadu government has introduced a scheme to support the firecracker manufacturing sector.
This initiative includes organizing special orientation programs in key districts like Virudhunagar.
These programs are designed to promote safety standards within firecracker companies, focusing on workplace safety and best practices for handling explosive materials among workers.
Emphasis on Skill Development
Highlighting the government’s commitment to skill development, Minister Ganeshan underscored initiatives planned for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Government industrial training institutes will offer customized training programs aimed at enhancing employee skills and productivity.
These efforts were discussed in the context of budget allocations for the Labor and Skill Development Department, indicating a strategic focus on fostering skilled labor in Tamil Nadu.
