There’s a helpful update for mobile users. Switching between prepaid and postpaid connections has now become simpler and faster.
Waiting Time Reduced from 90 Days to 30 Days
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has changed the rules. Earlier, if you switched from prepaid to postpaid (or vice versa), you had to wait 90 days before switching again.
Now, you only need to wait 30 days to reverse your decision. After that, the 90-day wait will apply again for any further changes.
Switch Again Within 30 Days via OTP
If you want to switch again within 30 days, you can now do it using a simple OTP-based process. Your mobile number and SIM will remain the same—only identity verification is required.
Fresh KYC Required in Special Cases
In some urgent or special cases, users can still request a change within 30 days.
However, they will need to complete fresh KYC and visit a telecom service center or Point of Sale (POS).
Telecom Companies Will Notify Next Switch Date
To avoid confusion, telecom operators will now inform users about the next date they are eligible to switch again, based on the latest change.
