Amid the rising demand for food delivery, Swiggy has introduced a new player in the market called “Toing”. For now, it is available only in select areas of Pune as part of a pilot project.
The company claims this app is specially designed for people who want good and reliable food at a low budget.
In an interview with ET Now Swadesh, Anjali Palod shared that through this app, customers can order food starting from ₹50 up to ₹250.
This makes it an attractive option for college students and working professionals with limited budgets.
Key Features of Toing
Lower charges: While most food apps charge a platform fee of up to ₹15, Toing has reduced it to just ₹12.
No surge pricing: Customers won’t have to pay extra during peak hours or high demand times.
Same prices online and offline: Toing promises that the prices on the restaurant menu and the app will be exactly the same, ensuring transparency and trust among customers.
Why Pune was chosen
Swiggy picked Pune for this project because food delivery penetration here is still lower compared to cities like Bengaluru.
At the same time, Pune has a large number of students and young professionals with limited income, making it the perfect market to test a low-cost food delivery service.
Other Swiggy services will continue
Apart from Toing, Swiggy already runs services like 99 Stores (for FMCG products) and Snack (for 10-minute food delivery).
Both these apps will continue as usual, while Toing will focus completely on affordable food delivery.
