AI tools are proving helpful in almost every field, and ChatGPT has become one of the most popular platforms among them. Students, developers, and professionals around the world are using it to make their work easier.
Now, some reports say that a few ChatGPT Plus users are getting a surprise offer when they try to cancel their subscription. They are reportedly being offered one extra month of membership for free.
Free One-Month Offer for Some Plus Users
According to reports, several users shared on social media platforms like Reddit, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn that when they opened the cancellation page to end their paid ChatGPT Plus membership, they saw a special message.
The message offered them the option to continue using ChatGPT Plus for one more month without paying any additional fee.
However, it is still not clear how many users are eligible for this offer or whether it is available to all Plus subscribers. So far, this information is based only on user posts and online discussions.
Sudden Rise in ChatGPT App Uninstalls
At the same time, reports also suggest that there has been a sudden increase in uninstalls of the ChatGPT mobile app in the United States.
According to data from the market research and analytics company Sensor Tower, uninstalls of the app increased by about 295 percent in a single day on February 28.
This spike reportedly happened after news came out about a possible partnership between OpenAI and the US Department of Defense.
The news started a debate among users about how AI technology might be used in government and defense projects in the future. Because of this, some users decided to distance themselves from the platform.
Other AI Companies See Growth
Amid these reports related to OpenAI, other companies in the AI industry seem to be benefiting.
One such company is Anthropic, which recently announced that it would not move forward with a defense partnership for its AI platform, Claude.
The company said it had concerns about certain conditions related to the proposed partnership. After this announcement, reports claimed that downloads of the Claude app increased.
