Streambox Media, a start-up backed by Micromax, has launched India’s first subscription-based TV operating system (OS), called DorOS.
This OS will come pre-installed on the company’s smart TVs, offering users access to over 300 live TV channels
and 24 OTT apps, including popular services like Amazon Prime Video, JioCinema, Disney+ Hotstar, SonyLIV, YouTube, Lionsgate Play, and Zee5.
Anuj Gandhi, the founder and CEO of Streambox Media, has also mentioned that the company is in talks with Netflix to include it on the platform in the future.
Subscription Plans and AI-Powered Features
The subscription for DorOS is priced at Rs 799 per month. This new TV operating system will compete with similar services like Tata Play and Airtel Xstream TV.
One of the key features of DorOS is its AI-powered search, which will help users easily find their favorite entertainment programs.
4K OLED TV Launch and Pricing
Along with the OS, Streambox has also launched 4K QLED TVs in sizes of 43 inches, 55 inches, and 65 inches, all powered by DorOS.
The 43-inch model will be available for purchase on Flipkart from December 1, 2024, priced at Rs 10,799. The other two models will be available for sale next year.
Free First Month and Customizable Subscription Plans
Streambox is offering a free one-month subscription for users who buy the TV.
After the first month, users will need to pay the Rs 799 monthly subscription fee for the next 12 months.
After that period, users will have the option to customize their subscription plan based on their needs.
