State Govt announces DA and DR Hike ahead of Diwali

Ahead of Diwali, several state governments have announced good news for their employees and pensioners.

The governments of Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh have increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) to provide financial relief.

Jharkhand: 3% Increase

The Jharkhand government has raised DA for state employees by 3 percent, bringing it to 58 percent.

The DR for pensioners has also been increased to 58 percent, up from 55 percent. This change will be effective from July 1.

The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Around 3 lakh employees and pensioners will benefit from this hike.

In the same meeting, 24 proposals were approved, including the purchase of 207 Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances.

Madhya Pradesh: 2% Increase

In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s cabinet approved a 2 percent increase in DA and DR for state employees and pensioners.

The state government also announced the creation of a “Shri Anna Federation” to promote Shree Anna (coarse grains).

Uttarakhand: 3% Increase

The Uttarakhand government, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, raised DA and DR by 3 percent, increasing the allowance from 55 percent to 58 percent, effective from July 1. Around 2.5 lakh state employees will benefit from this increase.

Himachal Pradesh: 3% Increase

The Himachal Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, has also increased DA by 3 percent for employees and pensioners.

Additionally, arrears from April to September will be released to employees before Diwali.
