If you want to start your own business but lack sufficient capital, the central government’s Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra) scheme is a great and reliable option.
This business can be started with a very low investment, and the government also provides financial assistance to help it grow.
Along with earning a steady income, this scheme supports the national goal of providing affordable and high-quality medicines to everyone.
Rapid Expansion Across the Country
The network of Jan Aushadhi Kendras is growing quickly. According to government data, 16,912 centers were operational across India as of June 30, 2025.
These centers sell medicines at prices 50% to 90% lower than branded medicines available in the market.
At present, Jan Aushadhi Kendras offer 2,110 types of medicines and 315 medical devices. Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of centers (3,550), followed by Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
Who Can Apply for a PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra?
To open a Jan Aushadhi Kendra, the applicant must have a D-Pharma or B-Pharma qualification, ensuring that medicines are sold under professional supervision. A minimum space of around 120 square feet is required to set up the center.
