Starlink Internet Needs Special Kit — Check Price and Details

Elon Musk’s company Starlink has received a license to offer satellite internet services in India, and preparations for the commercial launch are now underway.

Starlink aims to provide high-speed internet in remote and network-deprived areas—without the need for mobile towers or fiber lines.

According to recent reports, the company plans to introduce a basic monthly internet plan at just $10 (around ₹850).

But before using the service, users will need to purchase a Starlink Internet Kit, which involves a one-time upfront cost. This kit includes all the equipment needed to set up the satellite connection.

What Will a Starlink Connection Cost?

Though Starlink provides internet via satellite, it requires various devices and tools to deliver the connection to your home.

Just like fiber broadband needs a router, Starlink needs an installation kit, for which users must pay separately.

As seen on Starlink’s official websites in other countries, the kit is a Do It Yourself (DIY) setup.

That means users can install it themselves without needing a technician. The kit includes:

  • Satellite Dish

  • Starlink Router

  • Power Adapter

  • 15-meter Starlink Cable

  • AC Power Cable

These components receive signals from satellites and create a Wi-Fi network in your home.

Where Will Starlink Be Most Useful?

Starlink is expected to launch its services in rural and remote areas of India, especially where 5G, 4G, or fiber broadband are not available.

In areas with poor mobile network coverage, Starlink could become a strong alternative for internet access.

How Much Will the Kit Cost?

The Starlink kit costs $349 in the US, which converts to around ₹30,000. In some countries, the price can go up to ₹36,000.

While plans for India haven’t been officially revealed yet, previous reports suggest a monthly fee of $10 (₹850) for basic service. However, the installation kit will still be a separate, one-time expense.

So, to start using Starlink, users will first have to invest a significant amount upfront, and then continue with the monthly charges.

What’s Next for Starlink in India?

After receiving the license from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Starlink will now apply for trial spectrum in India.

Following that, the company will begin installing user terminals. Starlink is planning to launch services in the coming months, starting with rural regions to improve internet access in places still disconnected from major networks.
