Southern Railway launches Summer Special Trains

To handle the heavy passenger rush during the peak holiday season, Southern Railway has launched special summer trains on demand.

These trains aim to make travel between South India and Bihar more convenient and reduce long waiting lists.

The key trains include:

Ernakulam Jn–Muzaffarpur Express Special – connecting Kerala with Bihar

Dr MGR Chennai Central–Barauni Express Special – easing travel between Chennai and Bihar

Passengers can book tickets in advance to plan their journeys comfortably.

Ernakulam Jn–Muzaffarpur Express Special

For travelers between Kerala and Bihar, the Ernakulam–Muzaffarpur Express Special will run on April 10, 17, and 24, departing late at night and reaching Muzaffarpur by the fourth day morning. The return journeys are on April 13, 20, and 27.

The train offers AC coaches, sleeper coaches, and general compartments, making it suitable for different budgets.

Major Stations on the Route:

Ernakulam Jn, Thrissur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Erode, Katpadi, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Asansol, Patna, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur.

Passengers can plan their travel based on these stops for convenience.

Dr MGR Chennai Central–Barauni Express Special

To reduce the passenger rush between Chennai and Bihar, the Dr MGR Chennai Central–Barauni Express Special will run on April 12, 19, and 26, departing near midnight and reaching Barauni by the third evening.

Return services are on April 15, 24, and 29.

Dr MGR Chennai Central, Gudur, Nellore, Ongole, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Vizianagaram, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Asansol, Jasidih, Jhajha, Barauni.
