GST New Rates: From 22nd September, the new GST rates have been implemented across the country. As per government orders, companies must put revised price stickers even on products manufactured before this date.
This means that in the coming days, many products may show two MRPs—one with the old price and another with the new GST-adjusted price.
Customers are advised to always check the latest MRP printed on the packet and consider that as correct.
If a shopkeeper charges extra in the bill, you should question it immediately. Such issues are more common in small shops, so buyers need to remain alert.
Where to File Complaints
The government has taken steps to ensure consumers actually benefit from GST rate cuts. For this, new complaint categories have been added on the Ingram portal of the National Consumer Helpline (NCH).
Separate sections have been created for car dealers, e-commerce sites, banks, FMCG firms, and grocery stores.
So, if a dealer charges the old price, an online platform doesn’t reduce the product cost, or a grocery shop refuses to pass on the discount, customers can file complaints directly on this portal.
How to File a Complaint
The complaint process is simple. First, visit consumerhelpline.gov.in, enter your mobile number, and register.
After logging in via OTP, select the relevant category, provide complete details of the issue, and upload required documents along with your name and address. Once submitted, the complaint will be registered.
Customers can also report their issue by calling 1915, or by sending a WhatsApp/message to 8800001915. Complaints can also be filed using the National Consumer Helpline App or the Umang App.
Know the New Prices Easily
Along with complaints, a new service has also been introduced for customers. If anyone wants to know the updated price of a product, they can simply visit savingwithgst.in, a government-launched portal.
Through these measures, the government aims to make sure the benefits of GST cuts reach the public directly and prevent irregularities in pricing.
