This means customers will no longer be able to send money using mCASH without adding a beneficiary.

SBI has confirmed that both sending and claiming mCASH through OnlineSBI and the YONO Lite app will stop permanently.

This decision will affect customers who relied on mCASH for quick transfers using only a mobile number or email ID.

The bank says the step is necessary and urges customers to shift to safer, modern digital payment methods.

What Will Replace mCASH?

After discontinuing mCASH, SBI is advising users to switch to four secure and widely used payment options:

UPI

IMPS

NEFT

RTGS

These methods are fast, safe, and easy to use for all types of transactions.

SBI has also issued a notice on its website stating, “mCASH service will not be available after 30.11.2025.

Please use alternative methods such as UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS.”

What Was SBI mCASH?

mCASH was a unique feature that allowed customers to send money without adding a beneficiary.

Users could simply enter the receiver’s mobile number or email ID.

The receiver would then get a secure link and an 8-digit passcode.

Using these, the money could be claimed and transferred to any bank account.

This service was especially popular among people who frequently made small payments.

The mCASH app, available on Google Play Store, let users claim money, transfer it to any account, and save bank details for future use.

All these features will stop after November 30, 2025.

Why SBI Is Ending mCASH

SBI has shared two main reasons for shutting down the service:

mCASH was built on an outdated technology platform

Modern systems like UPI have become far more efficient and widely used

With UPI offering instant payments and being available everywhere, the use of mCASH dropped sharply.

SBI is now focusing on a larger digital transformation, which includes phasing out outdated services.

Better Alternatives: UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS

SBI encourages customers to prioritize UPI, especially through its own app BHIM SBI Pay, which works for all bank users.

UPI can be used for shopping, bill payments, recharges, taxis, groceries, and more.

For those who prefer traditional bank transfers:

IMPS offers instant transfers 24×7

NEFT runs throughout the day in batches

RTGS is best for high-value transactions
