The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced a scheduled maintenance activity that will affect several of its major digital services for a short period.
The maintenance is planned for October 25, 2025, between 1:10 am and 2:10 am (IST) — lasting a total of 60 minutes.
During this one-hour window, key online services such as UPI, IMPS, YONO, Internet Banking, NEFT, and RTGS will remain unavailable.
However, customers can continue to use SBI ATMs and UPI Lite services during this downtime.
SBI has also apologized for the temporary inconvenience and thanked customers for their understanding.
Why SBI Services Will Be Down
According to the bank’s official post on X (formerly Twitter), the downtime is part of a routine system upgrade to ensure smoother and faster digital banking experiences in the future.
SBI had earlier planned a separate UPI maintenance for October 24, 2025, between 12:15 am and 1:00 am, but that session was postponed.
The bank has stated that a new schedule for that activity will be shared soon.
What to Do When SBI Services Are Down
If SBI’s main digital services like YONO, Internet Banking, NEFT, RTGS, or UPI aren’t working during the maintenance period, here are some quick alternatives you can use:
Option 1: Use UPI Lite for Small Payments
UPI Lite is a simplified version of UPI that lets you make quick, low-value payments — even when bank servers are temporarily unavailable.
How it works:
Open any UPI app (like PhonePe, GPay, Paytm, or BHIM).
Go to the UPI Lite option on the home screen.
Link your SBI account and add money (up to Rs 2,000 at a time).
You can make payments up to Rs 500 per transaction without entering a UPI PIN.
This is a handy option for small daily expenses like groceries, tea stalls, metro rides, or snacks.
Option 2: Use Your SBI ATM or Debit Card
Even if digital banking services are unavailable, SBI ATMs will continue to work normally.
You can:
Withdraw cash from any SBI or other bank ATM.
Check your balance.
Make payments at stores using your debit card at POS terminals.
Pay bills or shop online using your card.
What Customers Should Keep in Mind
SBI recommends completing urgent online transactions before 1:10 am on October 25 to avoid disruption.
The services are expected to resume by 2:10 am the same day.
With UPI Lite and ATM services still available, customers should face minimal inconvenience during the brief maintenance period.
