If you use the Cashback SBI Card, here’s an important update.

SBI Cards and Payment Services has announced changes in cashback and reward rules.

These new rules will come into effect from April 1, 2026.

Some benefits are being limited, while a few rules are being tightened.

Let’s break it down in a simple way.

Cashback Limit Revised: Here’s What You Get Now

The biggest change is in the cashback limit.

Earlier, users could earn cashback more freely. Now, there is a fixed cap per billing cycle:

Online spends: 5% cashback (up to Rs 2,000)

Offline spends: 1% cashback (up to Rs 2,000)

Total maximum cashback: Rs 4,000 per statement cycle

This means even if you spend more, your cashback won’t go beyond Rs 4,000 in a month.

No Cashback on These Categories

From April 1, cashback will not be available on certain types of transactions.

These include:

Digital gaming platforms

Toll payments

Government-related transactions

These categories are now excluded, so spending in these areas won’t earn you any cashback.

Changes in Reward Points Redemption

There are also updates related to reward points.

You can redeem a maximum of 60,000 points per month for statement credit

Redemption must be done in multiples of 4,000 points

However, some cards like Air India SBI Signature and select PhonePe SBI cards are not affected by these changes.

Important Timelines You Should Know

There are also timelines for reward point adjustments:

Cashback-related reward points may be reversed within 90 days

Instant discount-related points may be reversed within 120 days

So, keep track of your rewards and usage carefully.

Final Takeaway

These changes put a clear limit on how much cashback you can earn and where you can earn it.

If you use the Cashback SBI Card regularly, it’s important to adjust your spending strategy to get the maximum benefit under the new rules.
