SBI Card has updated its late payment rules, which will affect many users.

Under the new rule, if your outstanding balance is more than ₹100 and up to ₹500, you will now have to pay a late fee of ₹100. Earlier, there was no late fee for this range.

For balances between ₹500 and ₹1,000, the late fee has increased from ₹400 to ₹500.

However, there is no change in charges for balances above ₹1,000. The bank has kept those fees the same as before.

When Will You Be Charged a Late Fee?

A late payment fee is applied if you fail to pay at least the minimum amount due by the due date.

If you miss the minimum payment for two consecutive billing cycles, an extra charge of ₹100 will be added.

This additional fee will continue every month until you clear your dues.

Big Change for BPCL SBI Card Users

There is also an important update for BPCL SBI Credit Card holders.

Earlier, the ₹499 annual fee was waived if you spent ₹50,000 in a year. Now, this limit has been increased to ₹1 lakh.

This means you will need to spend ₹1 lakh annually to get the fee waiver. Only after reaching this limit will the ₹499 fee be reversed.

This change will come into effect from May 1.

Other Changes Introduced in 2026

SBI Card had already made several changes earlier this year.

From January 15, 2026, rules for cashback and reward points were updated. Reward points must now be used within 90 days for cashback offers and within 120 days for instant discount offers.

Additionally, from January 10, 2026, domestic airport lounge access has been divided into Set A and Set B.

Now, the lounge access you get will depend on the type of SBI credit card you have.
